Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Instructional Technology Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

? Bachelor's Degree required, Masters or higher preferred from an accredited college or university. Preferably in Instructional Technology or related course of study.

? Successful teaching experience preferred.

? Experience integrating technology into subject area curricula.

? Strong pedagogical skills and understanding of the needs of adult learners.

? Leadership and facilitation skills including the ability to run effective meetings.

? Knowledge and skills in the application of audio visual materials and technologies in an educational setting.

? Previous troubleshooting experience and knowledge of audio/video instructional technology such as televisions, document cameras, projection equipment, sound systems, cameras and other peripheral devices preferred.

? Ability to communicate effectively with all students, staff, and members of the community, including parents.

? Ability to train staff on how to effectively use school defined instructional technologies including software and hardware.

? Knowledge of Apple and Windows computers and related equipment and operating systems with strong skills in the area of multimedia preferred.

? Organizational skills in scheduling and carrying out assignments, managing records, and managing documentation for audio visual equipment and materials.

? Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing 40 lbs.

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

WORKS WITH: Administrators, Faculty, Staff, Students, Parents and outside contracted vendors of hardware and software.

GOAL: Facilitate a learning community through collaboration and Professional Development opportunities with the purpose of improving instruction, achievement, and technology integration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Assist administration/staff with administrative software, including student records, scheduling, grade reporting, etc. Knowledge of Rediker A+, Edline, Grade Quick, SNAP (school nurse), connect.edu, Rackspace (hosted email), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics (business office accounting), Raiser's Edge (alumni/advancement).

? Manage multi-step eRate funding process through the New York State Department of Education.

? Assist students with technology intensive projects.

? Monitor and coordinate all activities in the computer labs.

? Provide a variety of staff development opportunities to meet building goals and provide for teacher collaboration.

? Assist in the maintaining of the high school's webpage.

? Coach and model with classroom teachers to help teachers understand and implement best practice in regards to technology integration.

? Carry out any other building duties as assigned by administration, including facilitating opportunities such as course offerings, professional days, grade level meetings, department meetings, etc.

? Facilitate Building Technology Committee and assist in the development and implementation of Building Technology and Professional Development Plans.

? Train staff in the care, educational use, and operation of instructional technology.

? Keep current in educational technology and instructional trends and promote and model the use of innovations and new materials.

? Consult with staff regarding the integration of information technology in curricula.

? Prepare and manage an annual budget for audio visual materials, information resources, and equipment for use within the audiovisual area and within the building in consultation with the District Technology Director, Building Principal, and Building Technology Committee.

? Order and maintain accurate audio visual equipment inventories and organize an efficient system of distribution and retrieval of materials and equipment.

? Conduct continuous evaluation of materials and equipment to ensure purchases reflect changing instructional needs.

? Aides in the design, ordering, planning, installation and setup of audio visual equipment and instructional technology hardware.

? Provides technical assistance to building staff, students, and parents, in person, telephone, and email.

? Assist Audio Visual Support Technician to prepare instructional technologies for the start of the school year.

? Performs other such duties as related to the position and as assigned by supervisors.
